update the situation concerning Vietnamese citizens in the Philippines affected
by typhoon Haiyan. What kinds of measures do you take to support them?
Immediately after the typhoon, having learned that
there were Vietnamese people in the affected regions, the Foreign Ministry
directed the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines to come to the sites as well
as to work with local authorities to rescue the Vietnamese people.
As of November 21, our embassy has successfully made
contacts with all the Vietnamese in Tacloban and the adjacent regions. There
has been so far no loss of life. Everyone is now in safety. Our mission in the
Philippines continues to closely monitor the situation. At the same time we are
maintaining close contact with the Philippine authorities as well as relevant
bodies in Viet Nam and the Vietnamese community in the Philippines to assist
and support the typhoon victims to resettle or to return to Viet Nam if they
wish to do so.
