PM sets himself, deputies, tasks for coming term

HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday signed Decision No 1476/QD-TTg assigning specific tasks for himself and his deputies.

The Prime Minister will take charge of all activities affiliating to the functions, rights and duties of the Government.

Under this assignment, he will directly give instructions on such areas as developing national and regional strategies and socio-economic development; the national strategy in response to climate change; the national strategy and policies on finance, credit and monetary; national defence and security; government's diplomatic activities, administrative reform, general issues on nationality, and co-ordination between the Government and the Party, National Assembly, the President and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, as well as socio-political organisations.

He will also directly monitor and give instructions to the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Viet Nam News Agency, Viet Nam Television and Radio the Voice of Viet Nam.

His other roles will include Director of the National Anti-Corruption Steering Committee, Chairman of the Central Council for Emulation and Awards, and Chairman of the National Council of Education, among others.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc

 

Phuc has been appointed as Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Steering Committee and aide to the PM in anti-corruption work. His other main role will be Deputy Secretary of the Party Delegation to the Government, where he will be assigned to oversee the personnel work of the Government.

He is in charge of inspections, settlement of complaints and denunciations, transport safety, crime prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention, and judicial reform, among others.

He has also been assigned to oversee the activities of the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Steering Committee, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government Inspection Office, the National Committee for Nationalities, the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Office of the Party Delegation to the Government.

He will also be assigned various other responsibilities by the PM.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai

 

Hai's main assignments will be to oversee and give instructions to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

In addition he has been appointed Chairman of the National Council on Water Resources and Director of the Steering Committee on key projects on oil and gas. He will also take charge of a few national targeted programmes under his leadership.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan

 

Nhan will oversee activities in the sectors of education and training, science and technology, culture, sports, tourism, communications and information, health care, population, employment and other social issues.

He will also act as the Chairman of the National Council on National Defence and Security Education, and Director of the National Steering Committee on Tourism, along with other roles assigned to him.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh

 

Ninh's assignments will mainly focus on the fields of finance, prices, banking policy, securities markets, capital investment sources, the macroeconomy, restructuring of state owned enterprises, implementation of bilateral and multi-lateral economic agreements, policies on salary and social insurance and the national programme of poverty alleviation and the building of new rural areas.

He has also been instructed by the PM to oversee activities of the Government Office, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank of Viet Nam and other institutions in the fields of finance and monetary policy.

In addition he will also undertake other tasks assigned by PM Nguyen Tan Dung. — VNS
