Noticeable news on international relations’ activities

1. Viet Nam - Sri Lanka:

          At the invitation of  Sri Lankan Foreign Minister G. L. Peiris, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh visited Sri Lanka and attended the unveiling ceremony of President Ho Chi Minh's statue in Colombo from 24-26 November 2013. During his stay, the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister held meetings with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne and Speaker of Parliament Chamal Jayantha Rajapaks, and talks with Foreign Minister G. L. Peiris.

 

          During their meetings and talks, the two sides shared the view that more exchanges and meetings at all levels should be held; existing cooperation mechanisms such as the joint committees, political consultations maintained, sub-committees for cooperation such specific areas as trade soon established; concluded agreements implemented; conditions for their enterprises to do business in each other’s country, especially in tea production and processing in Viet Nam and the exploration and supply of oil products in Sri Lanka be created. The two sides also agreed to raise two-way trade value to US$1 billion by 2015, to strengthen their cooperation in multilateral forums. The both sides reaffirmed their consistent policy to attach great importance to their traditional friendship to further improve their multifaceted cooperation.

          2. The 12th Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd ASEAN and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Meeting:

          A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Phuong Nga attended the 12th Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd ASEAN and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Meeting in Manama, Bahrain from 25-26 November 2013.

 

          Addressing the meetings, Deputy Minister Nga emphasised the role of the ACD in promoting dialogue and cooperation and building mutual trust; increasing economic and commerce cooperation through the establishment of an ASEAN-GCC business council; improving linkages within the framework of the Comprehensive Plan on ASEAN Connectivity; strengthening cooperation in such important areas as finance, science and technology, energy and food security etc. The Deputy Minister also reaffirmed Viet Nam's commitment to enhance cooperation with other ACD member countries in the interests of peace, prosperity and development; creating good conditions for GCC enterprises investing and doing business in Viet Nam.

          II. Other news:

1.    Viet Nam's Export in November 2013:

          Total export volume for November 2013 reaches US$ 126 billion, an increase of 16.2% compared to the same time last year. Domestic companies account for US$ 39.9 billion, registering an increase of 3.6% and the FDI-invested sector account for US$ 81.2 billion, up 23.5%.

          Total import volume for November 2013 reaches US$ 121.1 billion, a raise of 16.5 compared to the same time last year. Domestic companies account for US$ 52,2 billion, an increase of 6%; the FDI-invested sector USD 68.9 billion, up 26%.

          2. Export of marine products for 11 months:

          In the first 11 months of 2013, total marine product export hit USD 6.11 billion, registering a raise of 9.1% compared to the same time last year. Of these, shrimp products increase sharply, especially Pacific white shrimp because the world sale saw a steep drop and the hike in import price. It is estimated that marine products will reach USD 6.5 billion, up 5% compared to 2012./.
