President assigns representative to UN Security Council

Ha Noi (VNA) – State President Nguyen Minh Triet has assigned Le Luong Minh, Ambassador, Head of Vietnamese delegation to the United Nations, to be Viet Nam ’s representative at the UN Security Council.

Ambassador Minh will make speech and vote at official meetings of the Security Council on behalf of the nation.

Viet Nam was officially elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2008-09 term at the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly on October 16. Viet Nam will take its seat from Qatar in the Security Council from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2009.-Enditem
