ANSWERS QUESTION ON 21 MAY 2009
On 21 May 2009, in response to correspondents’ question over Vietnam’s reaction to Sri Lanka’s completion of the military campaign to wipe out the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Vietnam's Foreign Affairs Spokesman Le Dung said:
Vietnam welcomes the recent victory of the Government and people of Sri Lanka. This victory will create favorable conditions for Sri Lanka to
concentrate on the cause of national construction and development,
contributing to peace, stability and development in the region.
Vietnam believes that the friendship and cooperation relations between Vietnam and Sri Lanka will further develop in the coming time.
In
order to help Sri Lanka Government to solve the problem of internally
displaced persons, the Government of Vietnam has decided to provide
emergency assistance of US$30,000 to Sri Lanka./.
