On January 19th,
2012, at the Head Office of Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations
in New York, H.E. Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam
to the United Nations, on behalf of Viet Nam and his counterpart, H.E. Mr.
Lhatu Wangchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent
Representative of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the United Nations, on behalf of
Bhutan, signed “Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations
between the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Kingdom of Bhutan”.
This event has
marked a new step in relations between Viet Nam and Bhutan to meet desiring to
reinforce and to develop mutually beneficial relations between the two countries
and their people. The two sides have agreed to exchange diplomatic
representatives at the Ambassadorial level and the provisions of the Vienna
Convention of 1961 on Diplomatic Relations, and of the Vienna Convention of
1963 on Consulate Relations, will apply to the diplomatic and consular
relations between the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Kingdom of Bhutan.
Singed documents
will be sent to the UN Secretary-General to be circulated as official documents
of the United Nations and notified to the members States of the United Nations.
